PURPOSE:To impact silica powder with novel function as a developer (toner) for electrophotography or a filler for rubber composition, by treating silica powder with a surface-treating agent composed of an imino-containing silane represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:Silica powder having a specific surface area of >=50m<2>/g is surface-treated with a treating agent composed of a silane having imino group. The imino-containing silane is expressed by the general formula I. The group X in the formula I is expressed by the formula II wherein R<1> and R<2> are univalent hydrocarbon group. In the formula II, R<3> is univalent hydrocarbon group free from aliphatic unsaturated bond, R<4> is H or univalent hydrocarbon group free from aliphatic unsaturated bond, Q<1> is bivalent hydrocarbon group, Q<2> is bivalent hydrocarbon group free from aliphatic unsaturated bond and n is positive integer of 0-2.
