1,029,757. Discharging liquefied gas. LINDE A.G. July 2, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 26134/63. Heading F1R. Liquefied gas in a tank 1 is forced therefrom into a collecting vessel 3 by vaporizing a portion of the gas in the tank at a temperature slightly above that of the liquid in the tank. Part of the vapour from the vessel 3 passes to a storage container 17 and the remainder passes through a heat exchanger 5, compressor 7 and heating element 9 before returning to the vessel 3. Liquid from the vessel 3 is pumped into a storage tank 21 and safety valves 14, 23, 26 prevent excessive pressure build-up in the liquid and vapour circuits. In an alternative embodiment the heater unit may be located in a separate circuit using a condensible gas. In a further embodiment some of the liquefied gas may be vaporized and the vapour directly introduced into the tank to force out the liquid. The vapour may be cooled by being introduced beneath the lowest liquid level in the tank. Valve 11 is a throttle valve and by regulating the flow through the heater 9 maintains a constant pressure at the bottom of the tank 1.
|
