During the washing cycle, the total volume of air fed is approx. 30 - 70 per cent of the total volume of the space (2) which comes into contact with milk. The number of air supply periods is regulated to between 0.5 min and 80 mins (to the power of - 1). During each supply period, the air quantity supplied permits a vacuum inside the milking equipment to be established of the order of 23 - 33 kPa.
