NEW MATERIAL:An abietamide derivative expressed by formula I (R<1> is H, alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl; R<2> is H or alkyl; the dotted and solid lines are single or double bond). EXAMPLE:1-Phenyl-5-(DELTA<8>-dihydroabietoylamino)pyrazole. USE:A preventing and treating agent for arteriosclerosis capable of exhibiting improved cholesterol lowering action. PREPARATION:A DELTA<8>-dihydroabietic acid expressed by formula II or dehydroabietic acid expressed by formula III is condensed with the corresponding various amines to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
