Method for storing comminuted feeds, especially tending to form a cohesive mass in the heap, such as corncob mix and the like, in and for extracting them from a silo in a sequence independent of time, the feeds being introduced in the dry state into the silo from above and being stored therein, and, in order to extract a feed portion in accordance with the feed requirement, a feed quantity being treated at the foot of the silo by spraying water into the particular bottommost layer of silage mass, to form a pumpable aqueous mash, and this mash being pumped off, and apparatus for carrying out this method. <IMAGE>
