PURPOSE:To be able to exchange simultaneously sensible heat and latent heat contained in room air and intake air or exchange sensible heat only and drain out water by switching over the inside path connected to an exhaust to the inside path connected to an intake air path in a heat exchanger and vide versa. CONSTITUTION:When room air H with high temp. and humidity is allowed to flow through a path at the side of surfaces 10 with hydrophilic treatment of partition plates in a heat exchanger 8 and outdoor air C with low temp. and humidity is allowed to flow at the side of surfaces 11 without hydrophilic treatment, sensible heat is exchanged by heat conduction of the partition plate and at the same time, the air H is cooled and dew water adhered on the surfaces 10 and moves to the side of the surfaces 11 through small holes and is absorbed into the air C to exchange latent heat and therefore, total heat is exchanged. When the room air H with high temp. and humidity and the outdoor air C with low temp. and humidity are allowed to flow at the side of the surfaces 11 and 10 respectively, sensible heat is exchanged by the heat conduction of the partition plate and as for latent heat, water is not adhered and not held on the surfaces without hydrophilic treatment and is allowed to flow in water drops and latent heat is not exchanged. Therefore, sensible heat only is exchanged and water is able to be drained out.
