PURPOSE:To obtain coenzyme Q11 having excellent quality and useful as a medicine and feed additive, etc., in high stability at a low cost, by culturing a coenzyme Q11-producing strain belonging to Hyfomonas genus in a medium. CONSTITUTION:A strain such as Hyfomonas polymorpha is inoculated in a yeast extract medium containing yeast extract, MgCl2, etc., or a strain such as Hyfomonas neptunium is inoculated in a seawater medium containing polypeptone, yeast extract, etc., or in a medium added with 2-6wt% NaCl in place of seawater and the strain is cultured continuously or batchwise at 20-40 deg.C and 6-8 pH. The mibrocial cells are separated from the culture product e.g. by centrifugal separation, dried and extracted with ethanol, etc., at 50-90 deg.C for 1 - several hr. The resultant extact liquid is further extracted with n-hexane, etc., and the extract is separated and purified with a porous resin, etc., to obtain the objection coenzyme Q11.
