The invention relates to an arrangement of transmitting and receiving elements for digital data transmission between parts which are moved relative to one another in rotating and oscillating machines and devices, particularly stranding machines. It is the aim and the object of the invention to create, with the least possible expenditure, an arrangement of transmitting and receiving elements with the aid of which a digital continuous contactless bidirectional simultaneous data transmission acting in both directions and independent of the direction of rotation and the speed of rotation is made possible. In this arrangement, mutual interference between the individual transmission channels must be impossible. A further condition is that the axis of rotation of this data transmission device or of the parts moving relative to one another is not available for data transmission. The object is achieved by the fact that transmitting and receiving elements, for example photodiodes and phototransistors, are arranged offset on a particular radius on a ring-shaped printed-circuit board and a number of transmitting and receiving elements are to be provided adjacently to one another on the same radius on a second printed-circuit board, it being possible to select a separate radius for each transmitting channel.
