By equipping a balcony on the south side with a disc which is permeable to UV radiation and is designed as a stepped prism, the narrow insolated area on the balcony is extended when the summer sun stands high at the sky, so that sunbathing is facilitated. If the above-described stepped prism is replaced by a section cut out of a concave cylindrical stepped lens an optimally broadened sun field is achieved and the intensity is reduced due to the optical spreading-out of the radiation, and this is particularly pleasant to sensitive skin. These optical discs can also be fitted on open south-facing windows, so that it is even possible to sunbathe indoors.
