CONSTITUTION:A condensation phosphate having the structure indicated in the formula I is added to an electrolyte to effectively prevent the growth of dendrite in a zinc-iodine secondary battery. In the formula I, n is 0-100, M shows Li, Na, K, or NH4. As the condensation phosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphophate, or hexametaphophate, whose n is 10 or less, is preferable. Especially, sodium salt or potassium salt is preferable. The preferable content of the condensation phosphate in the electrolyte solution is 0.01g/l or more.
