[Also in Divisions B2 and F2] A grinding or polishing mill has a drive shaft 23 with a lower reduced part surrounded by a sleeve 25, each supporting a pair of arms 32 spaced by tubes 33. One extremity of each arm houses a bearing block 37 movable radially outwards by the action of a spring 38; each block contains a self-aligning bearing 39 for a polygonal shaft 40 associated with each pair of arms. Each of the two shafts 40 accommodates a roller assembly 41 consisting of a main and removable auxiliary rollers, the latter enabling the total mass to be altered. An oil slinger 45 is attached to the sleeve 25. The relative positions of the two roller assemblies are adjustable. When the shaft 23 is driven the roller assemblies both ride against the surface of the casing 13 and are rotated by the arms 32, thereby vibrating the casing and a surrounding spring- supported mill jacket. |
