The device serves to prepare a combustible mixture from liquid or gaseous fuels and air for burners or integral firing equipment of heat generators. A spacer taking the form of a corrugated ring (10) is located between a fire tube (9) and a guide tube (2). This device consists of a flame retention baffle (1) seated in a guide tube (2) and a fire tube (9), in which the guide tube (2) is positioned coaxially, and movable along the longitudinal axis. The inside diameter of the guide tube (2) in the region of the flame retention baffle (1) is at least 0.4 mm larger than the outside diameter of the flame retention baffle (1), with the annular gap (3) thus created having no interruptions on the circumference. The complete guide tube (1-8) is held in a coaxial position to the fire tube (9) by an elastic spacer (10). This mixing device is very suitable for automatic operation, since the forces needed to shift the flame retention baffle if the fire tube is deformed are small, and the drives necessary to displace the devices are small and cheap. <IMAGE>
