The invention relates to the sealing of transversely corrugated plastic pipes (1, 2) which are to be connected axially to one another. The end of one pipe (2) is widened in a socket-type manner such that it can be pushed over the end of the other pipe (1). In order that the seal, to be fitted therebetween, does not hinder this pushing-on procedure, but nevertheless provides an all-round seal, the invention provides a sealing ring (6) which consists of soft material and, by means of inner ribs (10), engages into at least two neighbouring corrugation troughs (5) of one pipe (1). On its outer circumference (11), the sealing ring (6) exhibits, in the region of one end side (12), a sliding surface (14) which rises conically towards the centre and, in the region of the other end side (13), a bead (15) which runs all the way around and the diameter of which is greater than that of the sliding surface (14). Said bead (15) is deformed when the socket (7) is pushed on, without the sealing ring (6) being able to pass out of its anchoring into the corrugation troughs (5), because the rib (10) located in the region of the sliding surface (14) is pressed firmly into the associated corrugation trough (5). <IMAGE>
