A propellant charge detonator for ammunition in cartridges having a propellant charge consisting of pourable powder, which detonator has a detonating tube which can be arranged centrally in the cartridge and extends from the rear end of said cartridge in the direction of the rear of the bullet of the cartridge and which detonating tube is provided with detonating openings on its outer surface and at its front end facing the rear of the bullet, and in which detonator a flame guide tube (which originates from the detonating element which is arranged at the rear end of the propellant charge detonator) and a booster charge having an axial channel are arranged. In order to detonate the propellant charge powder uniformly, over a large area and gently, the detonating openings at the front end of the detonating tube are arranged inclined such that their respective centre line intersects the longitudinal axis of the detonating tube within said detonating tube. Furthermore, for this purpose it is provided that the front region of the flame guide tube projects into the channel of the booster charge.
