PURPOSE:The reaction is effected, as a specific ratio mixture of an alcohol and vinyl acetate and halogen are continuously fed into the reaction system under control so that these feedstock keep a certain ratio whereby the titled compound is obtained advantageously. CONSTITUTION:Using a reactor equipped with the inlet and the outlet, a mixture of vinyl acetate with an alcohol at a molar ratio of 1/3-1/10, preferably 1/3.5-1/6 and (B) a halogen (usually chlorine, but bromine is also used) are continuously fed in the reactor at a molar ratio 0.9-1.2, preferably 1.0-1.1, to the vinyl acetate in (A) mixture and the reaction mixture is taken out of the outlet continuously so that the average residence time becomes 0.1-10hr, preferably 0.5-5hr. USE:An intermediate of medicines and agrochemicals. A synthetic intermediate of modifer for water-soluble macromolecules.
