For short plastic pipes which are to be drawn into sewer pipes to be renovated and are provided with a lateral branch-off opening for branching-off secondary connections, the invention provides a retaining apparatus which is fastened on an installation carriage, is provided with expansion members and in which the expansion members are pivotably arranged, in the manner of a parallelogram, on a central pipe body and are actuated, via mechanical deflection means, by a single pneumatic cylinder arranged centrally in the pipe body.
