A simply designed device 10 which determines the contours of an object with high accuracy independently of the material of the object is proposed for spatially scanning objects. The device 10 consists of a spring-tempered feeler 14 having a scanning end 56 of round design, a feeler holder 12 on which the feeler 14 is mounted with its other end 54 and is connected in the mounting region to an electrical contact, and of an electrical contact element 68 which surrounds the feeler 14 at a distance from the scanning end 56 thereof and from the outer surface thereof. The feeler 14 is constructed to be electrically conductive at least in the region between its mounting and the contact element 68, and initiates a signal when the contact element 68 is touched. <IMAGE>
