PURPOSE:To obtain a card processing device which can eliminate the loss of balance by transferring the balance of a note card to a deposit account. CONSTITUTION:A card processing device is connected to a host computer 3 having a deposit account file 5 through a line. When a cash card is inserted, data on the card is read, and the device is held until a purchase key or an account key is depressed. If the purchase key is depressed, the device communicates with a center, and one new note card is fed out and the discrimination number, the balance, the deposit account, etc., are encoded to discharge the card if money can be drawn out. If the account key is depressed after insertion of the cash card, insertion of the note card is requested, and the balance is read when it is inserted. The device communicates with a host 4 to transfer the balance to the deposit account discriminated by the cash card; and if it is transferred normally, the balance of the note card is set to 0 and the note cad is recovered. If transfer is not permitted, the note card is ejected. |
