The galette unit comprises a galette casing (1) and an electric motor which drives this galette casing (1). The rotor (11) of the electric motor and the galette casing (1) are situated in a rotationally fixed manner in each case on one end (3 and 10) of a shaft (17) which is common to both and is mounted in its central region in bearings (5 and 6). The galette heating (9) and the housing (12) with the field coil (13) of the electric motor are fastened on opposite sides of the machine wall (16) which receives the bearings (5 and 6). <IMAGE>
