The invention relates to an apparatus for the production of yarn or twine, consisting of at least three rotationally symmetrical bodies which are rotatable and the outer surfaces of which are arranged close to one another, and in which the formation of the yarn or twine takes place as a result of the twisting together of the constituents of the yarn or twine between the rotationally symmetrical bodies. The object on which it is based is to allow the reliable working of the apparatus, to avoid production failures and to lower the outlay for driving the rotationally symmetrical bodies. The object is achieved in that the rotationally symmetrical bodies (1) are mounted in a stationary supporting body (2, 15) and are surrounded by a guide body (5, 14) of circular inner cross-section, driven by means of pulling-means mechanisms having a rotating pulling means (9), there being contact between the inner surface (7) of the guide body (5, 14) and the rotationally symmetrical bodies (1) - Figure 1 -. The invention achieves the technical effect that, when at least three rotationally symmetrical bodies are arranged, their axes are reliably maintained parallel or in another predetermined position to one another, this position is preserved even at high rotational speeds and at least three rotationally symmetrical bodies are driven jointly. <IMAGE>
