The invention concerns a hinge for covers for electrical installation units, for example socket of the type which is intended to be mounted on a wall and to prevent the penetration of water inside the unit in the event of rain, spray and drips. The unit comprises a casing with walls with a main plane which extends principally perpendicularly to the plane of the wall when the unit is in an installed position on the wall. The cover 4 is hinged around a horizontal pin at the top of the casing and is provided with a closing spring which attempts to pull down the cover to the closed position. The cover is connected to the casing by at least one hinged part 5 of such a design that the hinge arrangement normally permits a maximum opening angle for the cover. The hinged part 5 is arranged so that when the cover's normal opening angle is exceeded during use by unintentionally large force it is able to be taken from its normal stable position against a spring force which is greater than the force of the closing spring. Thereby the cover 4 can perform a certain additional angled movement in excess of the normal maximum opening angle without being damaged, which is otherwise a serious problem, among other things in the event of tampering. <IMAGE> |
