A device for clamping a tool 1 on, for example, a table 2 in a hydraulic press, has clamping fixtures 3 arranged on said table and distributed around the tool 1, said clamping fixtures being movable into clamping engagement with an abutment 13 on the object 1. Each clamping fixture 3 can be moved towards and away from the object 1 and has a clamping arm 5, an attachment 6 and a driver 7. The clamping arm 5 is tiltably mounted on said attachment 6 and has a stop face 11 and a clamping face 12. The driver 7 is movable relative to the attachment 6 and the clamping arm 5 and has a sloping face 20 bearing against a sloping face 22 on the clamping arm 5. The driver 7 continues its movement when the stop face 11 on the clamping arm 5 strikes the object 1 so that the movement of the clamping arm 5 and the attachment 6 is restricted, whereby the driver 7, via the sloping faces 20, 22, tilts said clamping arm 5 and moves the clamping face 12 thereof into clamping engagement with the abutment 13 of the tool 1, whereupon the driver 7 is stopped. <IMAGE>
