PURPOSE:To obtain a solar battery cell with a simple structure, a low internal resistance and a high photovoltaic efficiency by a method wherein an electrode is formed over the whole surface of a substrate layer and a surface layer electrode is formed on a part of the substrate layer electrode with an insulating film in between. CONSTITUTION:A solar battery cell 10 is composed of a P-type layer 1 which is a substrate layer and an N-type layer 2 which is a surface layer. A P-type electrode 4 is formed over the whole surface of the P-type layer 1 and an N-type electrode 5 is formed on the N-type layer 2. The N-type electrode 5 is also formed on an insulating film 6 ranging from the circumference part to the back surface and, as a result, the P-type electrode 4 and the N-type electrode 5 coexist on the back surface of the solar battery cell 10. In the solar battery cell 10 of such a structure, the direction of a current path A in the solar battery cell 10 coincides with the direction of the thickness at any point. With this constitution, the problem of the increase of an internal series resistance caused by a longer current path in a region where the P-type electrode 4 does not exist is solved and a higher photovoltaic efficiency can be obtained. |
