PURPOSE:To facilitate connection of a junction-type semiconductor light emitting device and an optical fiber and avoid damages of the device and the top of the optical fiber by a method wherein the light emitting device is fixed in a case and a hole which an optical fiber connector is attached to and detached from is provided at the position facing the tip of the column-shape protrusion of the light emitting device. CONSTITUTION:A circular hole 1a, whose diameter is large enough for insertion of an optical fiber 2, is formed in the wall of a case 1 facing the tip of the column-shape protrusion P of a junction-type semiconductor light emitting device. On the external circumference of the hole 1a, screw threads are cut to screw an optical fiber connector 3, which facilitates connecting the optical fiber to the column-shape protrusion P of the light emitting device, onto the hole 1a and the hole 1a is aligned coaxially with the center axis of the column-shape protrusion P. With this constitution, the optical fiber 2 can be connected to the light emitting device easily by inserting the optical fiber 2 into the connector 3 after the connector 3 is screwed onto the hole 1a so that difficult and troublesome alignment can be eliminated and the light emitted from the light emitting device can be securely transmitted into the optical fiber. |
