SUPPORTING MEANS OF MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To reduce resonance and to hold contact between a disc surface and a magnetic head smoothly for a long period by fitting a metallic material having low elasticity to a gimbal plate spring supporting the magnetic head to absorb the vibration of the gimbal plate spring. CONSTITUTION:Metallic plates 4 consisting of a low elastic metallic material such as lead, solder and aluminium are fitted to the base part 3a, frame part 3c and center part 3e of the gimbal plate spring 3 so as to be arranged in the radius direction of the magnetic disc. The metallic plates are fitted so as to absorb the vibration of a B direction because the magnetic disc rotates in the B direction. The metallic plates 4 may be fitted to the gimbal plate spring 3 through an adhesive 5, may be directly fixed on the plate spring 3 by caulking the metallic plates 4 or may be adhered by the adhesive only at the periphery of the plate springs 4. Thus, the resonance can be reduced and the contact between the disc surface and the head can be held smoothly for a long period by absorbing the vibration of the gimbal plate spring.
