Apparatus for draining fluid from a body cavity comprises a housing (12) having an integral cannula (13) in permanent fluid communication with an outlet port (14), and an access port (16) closed by a self-sealing elastomeric plug (17) through which passes a removable needle (23). A tube (31) attached to the outlet port (14) includes a double check valve (34) and pump port (35) to permit aspiration of fluid from the cavity. The apparatus may include a flange (26) and locking device (28) on the cannula (13) to fix the apparatus to the patient's body at a desired insertion depth.
