PURPOSE:To allow the titled equipment to cope with a fault without stopping the entire equipment by converting a designation line number inputted attended with a communication request from a communication line into a prescribed line number and using a line connection section of the prescribed line number to apply communication control. CONSTITUTION:Various control tables and transmission/reception buffers in a memory 23 of a communication control equipment are set initially in the unit of lines from a control processing unit, a diagnostic program is started at the same time to diagnose line connection sections 24 sequentially. When a communication request to a line interface 1011 takes place from the central processing unit, the line number of the connection section 241 is inputted to the communication control equipment via an input/output channel 100 and fetched into a microprocessor 22 via a bus 200. The microprocessor 22 converts the inputted line number into a prescribed line number, uses a line connection section 24 having no fault for communication control and displays the operating line number.
