PURPOSE:To shorten the period of construction by simplifying the methods and processes of construction by a method in which a pair of projections having a given width along circumferential direction and a water-stopping setting length in the heightwise direction are formed on the mutually facing positions in the diametrical direction of the lower end of a steel shell. CONSTITUTION:Projections T formed on a water-stopping section Sa1 are formed symmetrically on the mutually facing positions in the diametrical direction of the lower end of a steel shell Sa. In the water-stopping section Sa1 with the projections T, the steel shell Sa is driven in the sea side requiring the stoppage of water, and the length of penetrating the projections T is lowered to reach a clay layer N. Also, by interrupting the intrusion of water from the lower part of the steel shell S and by raising the resistance to slide movement, the penetration length of the stabilized portion Sa2 of the shell Sa is limited to within the improved ground E. During the driving of the shell Sa, the occurrence of eccentric trouble can be eliminated and water is stopped and resistance to sliding movement is raised by the setting length of the projections T. Also, the falling down of the shell Sa can be prevented by the penetration length of the other parts.
