PURPOSE:To facilitate machining with an extra high accuracy and a high efficiency by a method wherein at least two steps of variations are included in one cycle of the laser output waveform of a laser oscillator. CONSTITUTION:The output waveform of a CO2 laser beam changes its peak value in three steps P1, P2 and P3 in one cycle and its pulse width is divided into three steps T1, T2 and T3 accordingly. When laser beam machining is carried out with the laser beam, as the amount of heat given to an object 7 to be worked is determined by the product of the laser output and the pulse duration time, the heat can be controlled by P1XT1/T+P2XT2/T+P3XT3/T so that a precision control is facilitated. Therefore, even if a corner edge A with a small acute angle and with small heat capacity is to be machined, excessive heat is not given so that working with an extra high accuracy can be realized. |
