PURPOSE:To reduce the height of an internal combustion engine and make it easy to mount and demount an ignition plug, by leading out passages to be opened and closed by a suction valve and an exhaust valve in specific directions, and mounting the igniting plug at a lateral position of a cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:A suction passage 19 and an exhaust passage 20 formed in a cylinder head 15 are led out in laterally opposite directions. A suction valve 25 and an exhaust valve 26 are provided in the cylinder head 15. An insulator portion 35a of an ignition plug 35 is projected from the cylinder head 15 at a lateral position thereof rather than a peripheral wall portion 15a of the cylinder head 15. With this arrangement, the height of an internal combustion engine may be reduced, and the ignition plug may be easily mounted and demounted. |
