PURPOSE:To attain 'fail as is' by permitting a CPU to output pulse number signals in proportion to a controlled variable, a digital output circuit to output data pulses corresponding to the number of pulse number signals and a pulse drive circuit to expand the time axis of the data pulse and to output it to a pulse positioner. CONSTITUTION:In the CPU 10, the difference between a control output 10a caused by application software and a valve lift signal is from a control valve 8 is taken, inputted to a PI 11 and integrated proportionally. The difference between the proportionally integrated output signal 11a and an air pressure 7a outputted from a converter 7 is taken and outputted to a function generator 12. With the aid of a linear primary function with upper limits decided by the frequency of a clock generator 65, the generator 12 operates the controlled variable corresponding to an input value, and outputs a controlled variable signal 12a to a making pulse circuit 13. A digital output circuit 20 outputs the pulse number signal 13a to a pulse driver circuit 60 which expands the time axis of each data pulse and output it to the pulse positioner.
