PURPOSE:To simplify the optical system and to facilitate its adjustment by providing a beam splitter splitting an optical path into >=2 to form an image on one line of an original to 2-arrays of photoelectric conversion groups and an image forming rod lens or the like. CONSTITUTION:The photoelectric transducer groups 14, 15 are formed by arranging, e.g., 4 CCD chips in two lines along the main scanning direction of an original 11. The 1st and 2nd photoelectric transducer groups 14, 15 are provided opposedly optionally on one line on the original 11, the image on one line on the original transmitted through a rod lens 12 is divided for the optical path by a beam splitter 13 and the image is formed on the 1st and 2nd photoelectric transducer groups 14, 15. An optical reflection film is formed onto the surface of the incidence side of an image signal and the reflection film whose reflectance is made as higher as possible is formed on the rear face. Thus, the luminous quantity reacting the photoelectric transducer group is halved in comparison with a conventional system and the disadvantage is compensated enough by the simplified electric circuit constitution and the simplified mechanism.
