PURPOSE:To enable detection of rain drops with very small size, by interposing electrode section of a second electrode in respective slits of a first electrode to support adjacent electrode sections of both the electrodes on an insulated circuit board in such a manner as to be opposed to one another. CONSTITUTION:In an electrode 20, four slits 21a-21d are formed at an intermediate portion of stainless steel plate parallel with each other by a laser working or the like along the length thereof. In an electrode 40, five slits 41a-41e are formed at the center of the stainless steel plate in parallel with each other by a laser working or the like along the length thereof. Then, both ends each of two flanges 42as and 42b are mounted securely on four spacers 30-30 so that parallel electrode parts 23a-27a of the electrode 20 will be positioned in respective slits 41a-41e of the electrode 40. With such an arrangement, when rain falls, rain drops fall downward passing through clearances between electrode sections. This allows impedance changes between the electrode sections to be always large enough each time the rain drops attach thereto temporarily.
