PURPOSE:To obtain an Al alloy material excellent in strength at high temp. and Charpy impact value, by using a powder of Al alloy in which specific amounts of Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, Mg, and further Be to Al. CONSTITUTION:A molten Al alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 12-28% Si, 2-10% Fe, 0.8-5% Cu, 0.5-5% Mn, 0.3-3.5% Mg, 0.1-3% Be, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. In this way, by the addition of Be, the formation of oxide film is inhibited and the generation of H2 gas in sintering is reduced in manufacturing al alloy powder out of the above molten Al alloy. Thus-obtained Al alloy powder is compacted, and the resulting green compact is held in a soaking-pit furnace of about 400 deg.C, which is subjected to hot extruding to be formed into Al alloy material.
