PURPOSE:To obtain correct offset amount by forming a vertical reference surface on a mating face of one connecting portion of a split brass, interposing a spacer of a required thickness between one reference surface and a connecting fitting, connecting same, working into a designated round hole, removing the spacer and recomposing. CONSTITUTION:A mating face 3 is formed on each connecting portion 2 of a pair of brasses 1, the inner periphery of which is roughly worked semicircularly, and they are joined. A reference surface 9 vertical to the mating face is worked in flush state with connecting portion 2. Secondly, a spacer 13 of a board thickness corresponding to the offset amount given to a bearing is interposed between one reference surface 9 and a connecting fitting 11, and a fastening bolt 5 and a set bolt 12 are alternately tightened to fix the paired brasses 1 in a body. The inner peripheral surfaces of the brasses are finished to be a round hole with a designated radius, the spacer 13 is removed, and recomposition is performed. Accordingly, the offset amount corresponding to the board thickness of the spacer can be correctly set.
