PURPOSE:To obtain an indicator with a high indicating accuracy by providing a resilient substance in the locus of the displacement of a bimetal and providing the resilient substance with a stopper for providing an initial load. CONSTITUTION:A bimetal 1 is fixed to a base 2 at one end and mounted with a drive pin 3 at the other end. An engaging piece 8 for engaging the bimetal 1 is provided in the displacement locus of the bimetal 1. The engaging piece 8 is fixed 9a to a frame body 9 and formed with a bimetal receiver 8a on its distal end. Further, an initial load is applied to the engaging piece 8 via an initial load setting stopper 9b formed on the frame body 9. Thus, before the bimetal 1 abuts against the receiver 8a and the displacing force of the bimetal 1 overcomes the initial load on the engaging piece 8, the bimetal 1 is not substantially displaced. That is, the angle of deflection of a pointer 4 is maintained. Since, when a water temperature, for example, is further raised, the bimetal 1 is displaced while pushing the engaging piece 8 to move, the angle of deflection of the pointer 4 is gradually increased. In this case, when the position wherein the bimetal 1 abuts against the receiver 8a is changed, the position wherein the angle of deflection of the pointer 4 becomes unchangeable can be adjusted.
