PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having improved moldability and impact resistance, consisting of a polyphenylene ether, a polyamide, a modified rubber- like material and an epoxy compd. CONSTITUTION:A phenol compd. having the formula [wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each H, halogen or a (substd.) hydrocarbon group and at least one of them is always H] is oxidatively polymerized in the presence of an oxidative coupling catalyst (e.g., CuCl2-pyridine) and oxygen (or oxygen-contg. gas) to obtain a polyphenylene ether (a). 100pts.wt. compsn, (A) consisting of 5-95wt% component (a) and 5-95wt% polyamide (b) is blended with 5-100pts.wt. modified rubber-like material (B) (e.g., a maleic anhydride-modified etylene/propylene rubber) and 0.01-30pts.wt. epoxy compd. (C) obtd. by copolymerizing 0.1-50wt% unsaturated epoxy compd. (e.g., glycidyl acrylate) with an ethylenically unsaturated compd. (e.g., ethylene).
