PURPOSE:To improve relative brightness of a surface by forming the surface of a face glass forming display elements to be sectionally serrated. CONSTITUTION:A face glass 2A forming a display element is provided with a sectionally serrated zigzag surface consisting of nearly horizontal step parts 5 and inclined parts 6. Consequently, even when light from above is incident on the surface of the face glass 2A, the reflection from the inclined parts 6 is projected downward while the reflection from the step parts 5 is reflected upward without reaching the eyes of an observer looking from a downward distant position. Accordingly, the shade effect comes to be given to the face glass 2A thus having no danger to whiten the glass surface while remarkably heightening relative brightness of the surface.
