PURPOSE:To enable the smooth and rapid mounting of pellets on pellet mounting elements, by adjusting a space between a conveyance start position of a substrate and a position of application of a bonding material, on one hand, and a pellet mounting position, on the other, in accordance with a pitch of the substrate supplied between adjacent pellet mounting elements. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with a pitch P between adjacent pellet mounting element 13 of a lead frame 12 supplied from the upstream side, the position of a foremost pellet mounting element 13 to a pellet mounting position 27 and the position 20 of application of a bonding material to the pellet mounting position 27 are transferred for adjustment to positions spaced by an integer multiple of the pitch P respectively. Thereby each pellet mounting element 13 for the lead frame 12 conveyed by pitches is positioned in the state wherein it stops at the position 20 of application and the mounting position 27 corresponding thereto. Accordingly, an operation of applying the bonding material and an operation of mounting a pellet 28 are conducted at the position 20 of application and the mounting position 27 respectively in independent states for lead frames 12 conveyed sequentially.
