PURPOSE:To utilize a 'KANJI' (Chinese character) mixed name as a name indexing key as it is by integrating different characters of an inputted 'KANJI'- mixed name into a unified 'KANJI'-mixed name. CONSTITUTION:One reference character is set up for the group of 'KANJI's consisting of homonymic different characters and the group of said 'KANJI's as a group of one reference character and one or more different characters. A 'KANJI' having no different character is set up as a reference character itself. Thus, a reference character table 200 and different character conversion table 300 are formed and the different characters of an inputted 'KANJI'-mixed name are integrated and converted into a unified 'KANJI'-mixed name. Consequently, the 'KANJI'-mixed name can be utilized as a name indexing key as it is.
