PURPOSE:To speed up reading by connecting a memory for storing data for the share of one track to a reading circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a high-order device 1 outputs a reading instruction to an optical disk storing device 2, data for one track including a sector specified by an optical head 6 are read out from an optical disk storing medium 5 through a reading circuit 7 and stored in a memory 8. When the specified sector is not a defective sector, the data of the specified sector are sent to the high- order device 1 as they are. If the specified sector is a defective sector, data of a substitutive sector corresponding to the defective sector are transferred to the high-order device from the memory 8 storing the data for the share of one track of the substitutive sector.
