PURPOSE:To lighten a display element body by making a material of an opening box to be fixed to a face glass synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:In an opening box 7 of a vacuum container 2 of a display element such as a flat matrix CRT, an opening part end 7a is tightly stuck en bloc to a peripheral part 4a of the inside of a face glass 4 to be fixed while being box-shaped to cover the illuminants 3a-3c. Synthetic resin such as, for example, polycarbonate is used as a material of said opening box 7. When especially the opening box 7 is formed of polycarbonate, a thermal expansion coefficient, tensil strength and thermal stability are almost equal to those of a material of face glass 4. Further, since specific gravity is sharply small, exfoliation of a part sticking to the face glass 4 is not caused thus being able to be light-weighing.
