PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of electrical contacts or sliding portions of small motors, slide switches, etc., by providing a particular imidazole or imidazoline on a member through direct application or impregnation. CONSTITUTION:A chemical composed of an imidazole or imidazoline having at least one ring of the formula I-II and selected from among 2-ethyl-4- metylimidazole, 2-ethyl-(4-methyl) imidazoline, 2,4-dimethylimidazole and 1,2,3- benzotriazole is provided on electrical contacts or sliding portions of small motors for driving a tape of a tape recorder etc., contacts for vertical motion, slide switch, etc. through direct application or impregnation into the member (e.g., felt) so that the chemical is evaporated by the ambient temp. to produce an atmosphere of the chemical around the electrical contacts or sliding portions. |
