A control apparatus for an AC induction motor includes the determination of the motor torque by means of the use of a reference table for the torque as a function of the DC input power for each one of the speeds chosen for the motor below a predetermined speed and by means of the use of a mathematical calculation of a plurality of energy losses vis-à-vis the DC input power and the frequency of the speed converter of the motor which are in excess of said chosen speed.
