PURPOSE:To measure a pre-load on each shaft by driving and rotating gears in engagement relation within a backlash range without contacting and detecting the torque of each shaft individually. CONSTITUTION:A motor 32 is driven to rotate a counter shaft 4 within the backlash range between a driving gear 11 and a driven gear 12, and the rotational angle position at the stop of the shaft 4 when the gears 11 and 12 about on each other is stored. Then, the motor 32 is rotated reversely within the backlash range and the rotational angle position at the stop of the shaft 4 is stored; and the rotational angle position of the shaft 4 for placing the gears 11 and 12 in a noncontact state is computed on the basis of both storage contents. Then while an input shaft 2 is rotated, the shaft 4 is rotated by the motor 32 and the rotational angle position of the shaft to the rotational angle position of the shaft 2 is maintained on the basis of the memory values so as to hold the gears 11 and 12 in the noncontact state during the rotation. Then, the torque values of the respective shafts 2-4 are detected by torque gauges 22, 26, and 30 to measure the pre-load on every shaft. |
