PURPOSE:To extend the life of a rolling roll without being limited by a specific rolling width schedule by using the rolling roll which is subjected to hard chrome plating or hard chrome alloy plating on the surface and moving the contact position of a sheet edge part with the rolling roll at every passage. CONSTITUTION:The rolling roll 2 which is subjected to the hard chrome plating or hard chrome alloy plating on the surface so as to have wear resistance is used. The contact position of the edge part of a steel strip with the rolling roll is moved at every passage to disperse the wear or sheet edge marks on the surface of the rolling roll. The rolling which is not limited by the rolling width schedule is thereby made possible and the life of the rolling roll is extended.
