PURPOSE:To attain the small size, light weight and thin profile for the mechanism by adopting the structure in which an original on a moving original platen is scanned optically, its image is collected and transduced into an electric signal, a thermal head is driven and copied on roll paper. CONSTITUTION:An original is placed on an original platen 2 movable and having a transparent plate 10 and the original is scanned by a light from a downward light source 8. The reflected light from the original is reflected in the reflecting mirror 2, the light is collected by a condenser lens 24 and projected on an image sensor 25. The sensor 25 transduces the received light into an electric signal, a thermal head 37 is driven based on the electric signal, the image of the original is copied by thermosensing on the surface of the roll paper supplied from the paper feed mechanism comprising a platen 36 and a damping plate 33 or the like and the roll paper is discharged from a paper discharge outlet 35. Through the structure above, the mechanism is made light in weight and thin in profile, and no development part by toner is used, then the maintenance is simplified.
