PURPOSE:To attain the monochroic reading of a color original by deciding the direction of position deviation of a color filter from a sensing signal of a photo sensor so as to position the filter frame. CONSTITUTION:Slits 10, 11 are formed to the filter frame 8, a light is transmitted to them and a deviation from a prescribed position is detected by a photo sensor 12, which is arranged to them and the filter frame 8 is vibrated slightly vertically by applying a bipolar voltage to a driver 9. The picture light transmitting through an optical lens 5 transmits through one of the said filters selected by the vertical movement of the filter frame 8 and the image is formed to a line sensor 6. Thus, a picture signal of a color component corresponding to the filter is extracted from the line sensor 6. The direction of the position deviation of the color filter is decided by the detection signal obtained to correct the position thereby setting the position of the desired filters R, G, B accurately and the stable monochroic reading is attained.
