PURPOSE:To obtain the titled reactor capable of eliminating waste of heat by providing a baffle member in the inner pipe of a double pipe consisting of an outer pipe and the inner pipe and a cylindrical porous structure arranged on the outer periphery side of the baffle member. CONSTITUTION:Hydrocarbons as the raw gas and steam are preheated to about 450 deg.C. The mixture is introduced into the outer pipe 2 from an inlet pipe 5 and brought into contact with a catalyst 3 in a catalyst bed 7, and the steam reforming reaction takes place. The high-temp. reformed gas is passed through the plural small holes 8a of a receiving plate 8, the flow is reversed by the end cap 4, and the gas is discharged to the outside of the system from an outlet pipe 9 through the inner pipe 6. The passage of the high-temp. reformed gas is narrowed by the baffle member 10, and the flow velocity is increased. The velocity is successively decreased at the part without the baffle member 10, the thermal boundary layer in the vicinity of the inner wall of the inner pipe 6 is released, and hence the convective heat transfer coefficient between the inner pipe 6 and he reformed gas is improved. |
