OPTICAL FILTER COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical filter compsn. which absorbs light of a specific wavelength by incorporating at least one kind of dyes selected from methine dyes having specific structure. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of the dyes selected from the methine dyes expressed by the formula are incorporated into the filter compsn. This optical filter compsn. is formed by incorporating the dyes into a binder. A binder for forming a film having excellent transparency and mechanical properties is used for the binder. The dye component or dye compd. is incorporated at 0.01-50pts., expressed in pts.wt., per 100pts. binder into said filter compsn. The filter compsn. efficiently absorbs light of about 400-800nm. The optical filter of a low cost having excellent fastness to heat and light is obtd. by adequately working the filter compsn.
